A Deep Dive into the World of Granola

Granola has become a staple in many households, beloved for its crunchy texture, delicious flavors, and versatility as a breakfast or snack option. But have you ever wondered about the origins of granola, how it’s made, and the different variations available? In this blog post, we’ll take a deep dive into the world of granola, exploring its history.

A Brief History of Granola

Granola’s roots can be traced back to the 19th century when it was created as a healthy food by a man named Dr. James Caleb Jackson. Dr. Jackson, a physician, and nutritionist developed a mixture of oats, nuts, and honey that he baked into a crunchy cereal. He initially called it “granula” and marketed it as a health food, but due to a legal dispute with another company that had a similar product, the name was later changed to “granola.”

Granola gained popularity in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s during the hippie movement when there was a growing interest in natural foods and a back-to-nature lifestyle. It was often associated with the health food movement and was seen as a wholesome and nutritious option for those seeking a healthier diet.

Granola has now gained popularity in Africa, with Africans giving their own twist on how to make it.

I believe no two brands of granola taste the same. It’s time to trust and try the African version of Granola made in Ghana, for the entire world. Just as we import foreign brands we should equally as Africans be able to export our brands of granola to give the world a taste of what we have to offer.
